Chana daal fry
Description
Gram (chana) daal fry is very famous side dish.
Ingredients
* Gram (chana) daal -1 cup
* Black pea (Udad) daal-1 tbs
* Garlic -1 teaspoon chopped
* Ginger-1 tea spoon chopped
* Onion-2 medium chopped
* Bay leaf (tejpatta)-2
* Cumin seed-1 tsp
* Curry leaves-5 leaves(optional)
* Grated coconut-1 tbs
* Coriander leaves-1 tabs chopped
* Turmeric powder-1tsp
* Black cardamom-2 crushed
* Small cardamom-2
* Garam masala powder-1tsp
* Tomato-2 chopped
* Green chilli-2 chopped
* Whole red chilli-2
* Asafoetida-pinch of
* Desi ghee-1 tbs
* Salt -to taste
* Mustard oil-2tbs
* Sugar-pinch of (optional)
Methods/steps
1. Wash and Soak Gram daal and black pea daal in water for 2 hours.
2. Heat 2 tbs oil in cooker , add bay leaves,curry leaves,black and small cardamoms,then add chopped onion fry till pink.
3. Then put turmeric powder,ginger garlic paste,garam masala,chopped tomatoes and green chili , fry for 1 minute.
4. Add soaked gram and black pea daal, fry for a while then put coconut, sugar, salt and 2 cup water. Pressure cook in medium flame for 10 minutes (2 to 3 whistle).
5. Give the tadka or baghar of cumin seed and asafoetida(hing) and whole red chilli in desi ghee. Garnish with coriander leaves and serve hot.


Additional Tips
Dont mesh or over cook daal it could destroy the real taste of daal fry.
