* Mango-500g,peeled and  sliced
* Sugar-or jaggery-500g
* Broken whole red chilly-2 to 4
* Pach foran(equal amount of fenugreek seed, cumin seed, aniseed, mustard seed, thyme seed)-1tbs
* Salt -1tsp or to taste
* Bay leaf-2 to 3
* water -1 and 1/2cup
* Mustard oil -1 tbs
* Turmeric powder-1/2tsp
* Asafoetida- pinch of

Methods/steps

1. Heat oil in kadahi  add pachforan,bay leaves,and whole red chillies,asafoetida,and turmeric powder, then add mango slices fry for some time .
2. Then add 1and 1/2 cup of water cook till mango slices  become soft then add sugar or jaggery and Cook over a slow flame till the sugar dissolves, stirring occasionally.
3. When the sugar syrup is of one string consistency and the mango pieces are soft and translucent.
4. Remove from the fire, add salt and mix well.
5. Allow it to cool completely. Bottle in a sterilised glass jar and store refrigerated for up to 1 year.
