Papraa (Besan chilla)

Description

It can be prepared in no time and at the same time its tasty as well as nutritious. Chickpeas is said to be a good source of fiber and many other nutrients and low in fat. Papraa is made in many ways and it is very ideal breakfast for diabetic person.

* Gram flour -1 cup
* Onion -finely chopped 1 tbs
* Green chilly-finely chopped to taste
* Tomato-finally chopped 1 tbs(optional)
* Chat masala-1 tsp
* Turmeric powder-1/2 tsp
* Coriander leaves chopped-1tsp
* Cooking oil
* Rice flour(for crispness)optional
* Salt to taste
* Thyme(ajwain)-pinch of (optional)

Methods/steps

1. In a large bowl mix all ingredients except oil mix well.
2. Make a smooth and thick batter by adding appropriate amount of water.Mix well with a spatula and take care that no lumps are formed.
3. Leave for 5 minutes.
4. Heat a nonstick pan or tawa. Grease it with oil on a medium flame and pour a big spoonful of batter when it becomes hot
5. Spread the batter to a round shape just like a pancake ,but don't make it too thin.
6. Pour little oil around its edges.when the lower side turns golden brown turnover the chilla.
7. Remove from the tawa when both the sides are done. Serve hot chilla with cilantro chutney or ketchup or pickle.

Additional Tips

We can make chila with soaked moong daal or chana dal paste as well.
